Bombay Sapphire East Gin

The black peppercorn and lemongrass make this eastern gin a nice sweet and spicy treat.

  • Appearance – clear.
  • Aroma – Lemongrass dominates.
  • Flavor – Lemongrass and spicy pepper dominate with a sweet nutty flavor. Completely gone is the strong astringency of the standard Bombay Sapphire.
  • Proof – 80

Not to be confused with the standard Bombay Sapphire, Bombay Sapphire East should be their flagship gin and bars around the world should be replacing the pretty blue bottles of Bombay Sapphire with the East version.

Bombay Sapphire East adds Thai lemongrass and Vietnamese black pepper to the 10 botanicals in Bombay Sapphire Gin: Juniper, Lemon Peel, Grains of Paradise, Coriander, Cubeb Berries, Orris Root, Almonds, Cassia Bark, Licorice, and Angelica.

For some reason, Bombay Sapphire East Gin lacks the strong astringent flavor that we find overwhelming and a huge turn off in the regular Bombay Sapphire Gin.

Sapphire east is a wonderfully complex gin with a nice sweet and spicy kick to it, making it an excellent gin for a variety of cocktails at any trendy Asian-fusion restaurant before dinner.
