Leopold's American Small Batch Gin Review

The near pine-less Juniper melts away with the zesty citrus, orris, coriander, and cardamon.

  • Appearance – Clear.
  • Aroma – Coriander and soft, floral citrus.
  • Flavor – Pine-less Juniper followed by zesty citrus, orris root, coriander, and cardamon.
  • Alc/vol – 40%

Leopold’s Gin uses a unique per-botanical distillation process allowing it to boil each botanical individually to just the right temperature and for just the right amount of time. This results a gin where the juniper offers much less pine than you’d otherwise experience, while still providing the other flavors juniper is known for (like citrus and pepper).

Each botanical has a head and tail that is undesirable, and the heart is what is saved during the distillation, also somewhat unique in using potato, wheat and barley instead of neutral spirits.

The result of all of this is a soft, elegant gin with very little edge.
